Internet Explorer 7 Crashes

I’ve had a few people who experience issues with IE7, it will close without error message or freeze up. These people have asked me if they can just uninstall IE7 and reinstall like they would any other program. If you are using an older Windows XP computer it may be possible to uninstall the IE7 upgrade and revert back to IE6 to reinstall the upgrade. However, if your Windows XP computer came built-in with IE7 or if you are running Windows Vista you cannot uninstall IE7. It is embedded into your computer.

One of the most common reasons IE7 crashes without warning or freezes up on you is because of the add-ons. IE7 has a built-in pop-up blocker so there is no need to install one or to install a toolbar that has a pop-up blocker. You may have a toolbar that has a pop-up blocker on it that may be interfering with the add-ons in IE7. You can delete or uninstall any pop-up blocker or toolbar that may apply. Another simple way around this is to open IE7 without add-ons. There is a listing of that in your Start Menu -> All Programs.

Should you still encounter the issues after trying IE7 without add-ons you can try to reset IE7. Go to your Control Panel, select Internet Options and then click Advanced. Select the Reset button and click OK. Restart your computer and try IE7 again.
