Speed Up Internet Explorer

Over time, you will probably notice Internet Explorer begins to run slower and slower. Perhaps the pages take much longer to load or there seems to be little response when you click a button on a page. There are a few quick and easy things you can do to speed up your Internet Explorer.

1.)    Update to the latest version of Internet Explorer
IE8 has just been released in Beta form. Personally, I like to wait until the version is in its complete form, like IE7. You can install free updates of Internet Explorer at Microsoft’s website anytime.

2.)    Clear History
Every time you load a page, visit a new website, or store web information it creates History on your computer. If there is a website in your History that you do not want to lose you can save it to your Favorites list. Deleting the History does not delete the websites saved as Favorites or your Bookmarked pages. To delete the History go to the Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Click Delete under Browsing History -> Delete History.

3.)    Delete Cookies & Temp Files
While you have the Browsing History Window open go ahead and delete the cookies and temporary Internet files. These build up until you erase them and they take up room in your hard drive causing it slow down the computer and Internet use.

4.)    Remove unused Favorites
Open up your Favorites folder and delete any that you no longer need. This clears up more space for your computer.
