Trojan Horse Explanation and Solution

Trojan Horse is one of the most widely known names for a virus. Though many many have heard this name before, they don't all know exactly what it is, what it does or how to remove it. As you have probably already guessed that this virus got its name from the infamous Trojan Horse of the Troy war. This is appropriate because the Trojan Horse in this case is not actually the virus, but what it carries along with it is harmful to you and your comptuer. The Trojan Horse is a form of spyware and that is why it sometimes able to get past the average anti-virus software. The best thing you can do to prevent your computer from being infected with a Trojan Horse is to get a separate anti-spyware program to work along with your anti-virus software or to get an advanced anti-virus software that also protects you from spyware. Other things you can do to prevent a Trojan Horse from infecting are:

1.) Be cautious of the websites you visit

2.) Do not click any pop-ups that you are unfamiliar with

3.) Keep your system and your drivers updated

4.) Perform regular maintenance

Again, the Trojan Horse allows viruses to enter your comptuer unnoticed and cause damage to your computer. These viruses can then access personal information about you, download things without your permission, restart your computer at random, modify or erase data, change entries in your registry, and crash your computer. A Trojan Horse virus even has the ability to affect your Internet browser by preventing access to some websites and re-directing you to malicious websites that can cause more damage to your computer.

If you already have a Trojan Horse, removal of it depends on how long it has been infecting your computer. The longer it is on your computer the further it spreads and deeper it goes into your computer. This makes it very difficult to remove if it has been there a while.

First, start with the basics. Open your Internet browser -> Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Delete all cookies, browsing history and temporary files. Then go to your Control Panel and use the Add/Remove Programs feature to get rid of anything unfamiliar or unwanted. Lastly, open your anti-virus/anti-spyware software and run and full scan and repair of your computer.

If you continue to experience the issues after performing the above steps then the traces of the Trojan Horse will have to be manually removed. This is not something for a beginner and should be done by only the very knowledgable or trained professionals.

Remember, preventing a Trojan Horse is the easiest way to help your comptuer against this spyware/malware virus!

If you can't remove an infected program via uninstall or add or remove programs, right click the start button and choose explore. if the folder is visible, delete it and go to add or remove progams and remove the program
and empty the recycle bin…
